1st Day: Arrival at Palermo airport or Trapani Birgi airport
Arrival at Palermo airport or Trapani Birgi: first stop at the charming Castle of Carini, With knowledge of the “pupi” world, through the MPOS, a museum dedicated to them, located in some of the Castle’saters. Transfer to visit Segesta, one of the most important and evocative archaeological centers in Sicily, where examples of best preserved Doric architecture are found. The temple, built out of the town wall, stands lonely on a naked hill. In this landscape it appears to the traveler, perfect in its preservation. Lunch at the Tourist Station where you can also visit a collection of ancient Sicilian majolica. Ascend at Erice, a characteristic medieval village, an ancient Phoenician and Greek city, perched at 751 m high on the mountain bearing the same name, crowned by a plateau of triangular shape on the seafront. You will visit the 13th Duomo, the Castle of Venus, the Balio Gardens, with a stop at a renowned pastry shop with tastings of typical sweets of Erice, prepared according to the ancient recipes handed down by the nuns of the Convent of San Carlo. Arrive at Trapani, with a visit to Hector and Infersa Salina, to learn the techniques of obtaining salt from the sea, according to sun and wind winding methods, ancient for centuries. Visit Salina and Salt Museum. Return to the hotel and overnight.
2nd Day: Marsala and Mazara del Vallo
Morning at Marsala for a visit to the Archaeological Museum of Baglio Anselmi, where is the fascinating find of the Punic ship, and the colorful Museum of the Sicilians Carriages. Continue with a visit to the historic Florio Cellar, go through the rooms that hosted illustrious historical characters, to see their sharp arches, where unique Marsala wine reserves are kept; tasting. Lunch with street food. Short transfer to Mazara del Vallo, home to the most important Italian fishing fleet, and to Marmoreo Fish Market, to enjoy seafood menu with fish of the day. Walk to the discovery of the town’s casbah with a stop to admire the Safiro sea and afternoon at a farm of viticultural and oleic production, to taste typical oils and wines. Overnight and gourmet dinner in Sciacca.
departure for Giuliana, to discover the world of saffron, cultivate and share the experience of flower harvesting and selection / drying for precious minute pistils. Stop at Palazzo Adriano visit to the Arbrish Museum, the Albanian culture in Sicily, and the square that was a cinematic set of the famous Cinema Paradiso movie theater, with an attached museum. Lunch at the farmhouse to taste arbrish menus, combined with local wines. Relaxing and afternoon descent at Sciacca, Where to dive into typical craftsmanship through the eighteen-year-old ceramic encounter, which will illustrate his life dedicated to knowledge and experimentation in the world of ceramics. It will also be possible to collaborate with the artist to create a personal souvenir object. Stop at the renowned pastry bar where you will know the secrets of processing Sicilian “arancini” and desserts, tasting and buying gourmet home-made products. Last visit to a goldsmith workshop, to “penetrate” in the knowledge of the precious “red coral of Sciacca”, to discover its environmental protection requirements, collection and processing techniques. Dinner with sea menu and return to hotel in Sciacca for overnight stay.
After breakfast, climb up with possibility to hike in Parco dei Sicani at Santa Rosalia alla Quisquina, Where to meet the sculptor-pastor Lorenzo Reina, to admire the majestic Andromeda Theater, sculpture theater on the slope of the mountain with exciting cultural confrontation with Lorenzo, an extraordinary character, a multifaceted intertwining of pastoral world and craftsmanship of excellence. Lunch in a farmhouse, with typical pastoral pastoral menu, at the Farm of Art, run by the artist’s children. Afternoon transfer to Corleone, To admire the wonderful panoramas that made the film on Joe Petrosino and visit the mafia and anti-mafia museum dedicated to Borsellino and Falcone. Short escursion to the neighbor Monreale, Where to stroll in the old town, and admire the splendor of the Duomo and the Cloister. Stay at a farmhouse, wine producer doc and dop oil, where to taste their quality productions, integrated into a typical peasant seasonal menu. Downhill at Bagheria, To discover the Gattuso Museum and then to reach the nearby Palermo, To visit the city with the Duomo, the Palatine Chapel in the Royal Palace, the churches of St. John of the Eremiti and of Martorana and the Chiaramonte Palace. Transfer to the airport and end services.
