It took place on Wednesday 22 July 2020, in the Abruzzo Region headquarters in Pescara, the press conference for the presentation of the 50th edition of the Abruzzo Artistic Craft Exhibition to be held from 1 to 23 August at Palazzo dellArtigianato, in via Roma 28 in Guardiagrele. The councilor Mauro Febbo, the president of the Exhibition Organization Gianfranco Marsibilio, the mayor of Guardiagrele, Simone Dal Pozzo, and the curators of the exhibition Angelo Bucci and Pamela De Nardis were present at the conference, in which the exhibition was illustrated.
This year’s edition, in addition to being the 50th edition, which marks half a century of events and the promotion of Abruzzo’s artistic craftsmanship, is an edition that has finally been renewed also on a digital level capable of making the exhibition visible also to those visitors who they will not be able to visit the Guardiagrele Craft Palace in Abruzzo in person.
The Ente Mostra, in fact, has created 2 splendid initiatives in the digital field: a virtual tour of the exhibition that will allow the user to visit the rooms dedicated to art and, not least, a managed E-commerce system will be activated by the Exhibition Authority for the online sale of the artefacts made by the many artisans participating in the exhibition.
A digitalization project that we are pleased to support with Madeinitalyfor.me Srl and which offers valuable help in promoting Abruzzo’s artistic craftsmanship, allowing the exhibition to communicate also through the most modern channels and offering the participating craftsmen a channel completely managed international e-commerce sales!
“This new approach will allow the Abruzzese Artistic Craft Show to have an ever wider audience and will be an incentive to physically visit the exhibition, Guardiagrele and Abruzzo,” says Angelo Bucci. “This year the rooms host five artists invited to tell their point of view on the“ relationship between man and nature ”.
The exhibition includes, at the beginning of the exhibition itinerary, a tribute to the goldsmith’s art and historical craftsmen. The first room, in fact, curated by Adriana Gandolfi, hosts a tribute to the Abruzzo goldsmith masters with works ranging from ecclesiastical art to decoration, from embossing to the typical filigree of the Presentose. The second room is dedicated to the historical pieces of important craftsmen, made between the end of the 1800s and 1970s, such as ceramics, wrought iron, stone capitals, woodworking and fabrics “. It follows the path among contemporary artisans that begins with traditional taste processes. Here the rooms have been divided by materials: iron and stone, ceramic, bobbin, embroidery and weaving – wood.
Continuing, the path acquires a more contemporary language: the rooms are divided into themes: “Iconic & Ironic”, with artisan products that incorporate iconic elements of tradition and rework them in a contemporary key, the “Shabby Chic” room, the “Urban space. Jungle “and the” Jappo “room and finally, to close the exhibition, two rooms in which to relax watching a collection of artisan products suspended between white and color that anticipate the space of the hall that this year hosts, in addition to Abruzzo art high schools, the competition whose theme is precisely the celebration of the 50th year of the exhibition.
An important milestone for the event, as the President of the Exhibition Organization, Gianfranco Marsibilio underlines, “The goal, today more than ever, is to give value to the commitment of the artisans after the bad period lived in them. Fifty editions are a great challenge, given the difficulties in this sector which, despite everything, manages to reinvent itself and move forward. For artisans, in fact, it is very important to leave the shops, exhibit their know-how, capture the attention of many people. The satisfaction of this fiftieth anniversary is that of having managed to ensure a splendid event that embodies the peculiarities of the Abruzzo craftsmen, the inspiration, the tradition and the passion “.
“The basic idea that accompanies the whole exhibition is that knowing the tradition and pushing towards innovation is the most intelligent path so that all the knowledge of the ancient artisans is never lost but follows the normal flow of evolution so that it can survive, adapting to the times and respecting history “, explains Pamela De Nardis.
The exhibition, organized by the Abruzzese Artistic Craft Exhibition, enjoys the patronage of the Abruzzo Region, the Department of Productive Activities, the Chieti-Pescara Chamber of Commerce and the Municipality of Guardiagrele.
“The exhibition – explains the councilor Febbo – has become a point of reference in the sector and knowing the origins and history of the Abruzzo artisan tradition means discovering in full the extraordinary value of the products of artistic craftsmanship, the beauties of the Abruzzo villages and of its food and wine excellences. Therefore – concludes the councilor – with the milestone of fifty years of this beautiful exhibition of Guardiagrele as the Abruzzo Region, we aim to grow our most authentic and identity heritage as the Abruzzo craftsmanship “.
The exhibition will be open every day from 10.30 to 12.30 and from 16.00 to 23.00.
